What Are Amigo Loans Claims?
Amigo is a lender who specialise in guarantor loans for people who generally find it difficult to get a loan. If you have used their services at some point since 2005, then it is possible that you may have been mis-sold your loan and could be eligible for compensation.
Amigo should have properly considered whether the loan they provided to you was affordable. In some instances they may have only carried out brief affordability checks because of the guarantor’s circumstances, rather than your own. When it did not, you could be able to get compensation.

Can I Make An Amigo Loans Claim?
Guarantor loans are a type of loan that asks for a friend or family member to back your loan by agreeing to cover repayments if you ever miss repayments. If you have had a loan with Amigo in the past, and could not pay it, you may be eligible for compensation in terms of reclaiming your interest.
While you may have felt the loan was essential at the time, if you found yourself in a worse financial position as a result and the loan should not have been granted in the first place, then you could make a claim. This also applies to extra borrowing, with inadequate checks, which would have increased the financial pressure on you. Top-ups and additional loans are most likely to be approved for compensation.
It doesn’t matter if the Amigo loan is still in place or it has already been paid off, compensation refunds for mis-selling may still be available. Compensation can even apply to guarantors of an Amigo loan.
How Do I Make An Amigo Loans Claim?
To make a claim get in touch with us and we can investigate whether Amigo failed to carry out proper affordability checks, meaning that you would have been mis-sold your loan. If you struggled to pay back the loan or had to use top-ups or subsequent loans to pay off their loan, then this will make your compensation case stronger.
If you believe that you were mis-sold an Amigo loan, you now have the chance to request a refund. This is regardless of the fact of whether you are still paying off the loan or it has already been paid off. Commonly asked questions
Amigo loans are provided to customers who are unable to secure borrowing from traditional lenders, usually due to poor credit ratings or low income. The loans are guaranteed by a family member or friend who acts as ‘guarantor’ and in the case of default would be responsible for repaying the loan.
Any loan should take into account the affordability, and whether after making the monthly payments, the borrower would have any money left over to cover their monthly expenses without requiring further lending. Amigo may have only carried out brief affordability checks because of the guarantor’s circumstances. Regardless of the financial status of the guarantor’s financial status, the loan needs to have to have reflected your repayment potential.
If your complaint is successful, if your loan has been repaid, you will be in line to receive a refund of the interest in addition to 8% of the amount of your statutory interest. Should you still have an amount outstanding, your interest will be removed and you simply repay back the amount borrowed.
We work on a No Win, No Fee basis, so this means that if your claim is not successful, you will not owe us a thing. Only in the event of a successful compensation claim would you be required to pay us a percentage of your settlement, so there is absolutely no risk involved in making an Amigo loans claim.
Amigo has been providing loans since 2005, so if you have had any borrowing from them since then, regardless of whether they are still in place or have been paid off, it is worth checking to see if any compensation is due to you.
As a guarantor of a loan you may have been responsible for repaying the debt when the borrower could not meet the repayments. If that was the case it is worth contacting the borrower in order to check the validity of the loan and see if compensation might be due.
